Posted this on the Home board but thought one of you baws might know the answer sooner.

I'm running a feed for my parents this weekend from the main panel to their camper shed. It's a 30 amp and they'll never have a 50 amp so I'm not looking to go with larger wire. It's a little under 100'. I've got a single pole 30amp breaker and will be burying 10 guage wire in pvc conduit.

Do I need to run 10/2wg romex or can I run 2 leads of #10 solid THHN, one black and one white for the hot and neutral and put in a ground rod at the camper for the ground, or do I need to have 3 runs from the panel to the camper connecting to the ground on the panel?

Commercial electrician see if I can help you out here, if I read that right sounds like you just want to add one receptacle within the shed?
If so first thing you cannot run Romax within conduit underground it’s considered a wet location so just run
(2) #10’s
one for the hot
other for the neutral
And (1) #12 for the grd
and no need for a ground rod just tie the ground to the “ground bus” within the main panel

Yes, just 1 30amp 120v rv receptacle to plug in the camper. I called it a shed, it's really one of those pre fab aluminum camper carport things.

This guy is right if you are doing it according to code,,,,,if you don’t have to have it inspected Romex 10/2 with a ground is fine and totally safe.

This is what I would do sir. Good install.

Edit.

I actually pulled wire for a 50 amp and installed a 50 amp receptacle. Got an adapter to 30 amp. If I ever want to I can get a bigger unit and ditch the adapter. Only have to do it once then while your doing this job

Wait, what? No Romex underground?

Is this a new code? I’ve never heard this.
