Eagle Head Goose

So recently I have moved back to TN. (Food sucks) I have finally come out from under being sick, boxes, too much family for Christmas and finally made it out to duck hunt with some old childhood friends.
Well we dropped a few ducks and I send my dog out to get them. I am not paying attention to anything other than my dog. All the sudden my buddy starts hitting his goose (Canadian) call and shoots. He drops what appears to be a goose of some sort. The damn thing has a white head, but the rest is grayish blue.
I thought it was a blue goose, but all my friends call it an eagle head goose. I have never heard of it. Is that the same thing as an immature snow goose?

Blues and snows are actually the same species.

Right, but they do the dirty and produce a eagle head, right?

Right. A blue is just an immature snow goose.

I saw Canada goose a lot but it still feels weird and I always get looked at like I'm the dumbass

Yeah I know. It's like "lie" "lay"; or "burst". To use them correctly means people are numb-struck.
I edited it out, sorry. I had posted that there was no such thing as a "Canadian" goose. They're all "Canada".

don't feel bad.. I know some guides - heck some that worked for me.. that didn't know that...
now there is an awfully rare 1 or 2 that can pop up.... and I mean rarely.. which is a blue phase ross' goose..or a ross' goose period... I have been around an awful lot of dead geese.. and have only seen about 5 blue phase ross' and about 20 ross' geese

smaller and rose/pink bill right?

yes.. had a brief argument with a guide that worked for me once.. thinking they got 2 immature snows.... when in fact they got 3 ross'.
all 3 ended up getting mounted...
we had a blue phase ross the same weekend it got put in a pile with 50 something other geese.. and took lil choupique about 30 minutes to "re-find" the "different" blue goose....

Right. A blue is just an immature snow goose.
Not necessarily. A blue goose is just a blue phase of a snow. Not necessarily younger or immature. A blue can be (and usually is) in the blue phase it's entire life

So is an Eagle head just another name for a blue goose or is it blue phase Ross? OR, is it something different all together?

Thats what I thought. Just never heard it call that before. But hell, never heard a Woodie called a whistler before this year either.

We've called "black bellied tree ducks" whistlers though
