Anyone have one with mild changes made to it? More so as a hunting rifle vs weekend warrior shoot 'em up.

Just looking for some ideas and figure out a direction.

Thanks

I have several DPMS lowers.

For a hunting gun, are you talking about a deer rifle or predator?

For deer, look at 6.5 grendel and/or the 6.8 SPC.

Either will require a new bolt and barrel.
May want to consider a new handguard and maybe a new trigger.

Easy to replace any of those. Main thing you would need is an upper vise tool and the correct barrel nut tool for what ever barrel nut that you have.

Putting that much money into redoing a base rifle probably wouldn't be too far off from what it would cost to get a rifle in that configuration from the start.

I have one with a cheap Simmons scope on it. I can send you dozens of pictures of pigs I’ve shot with it from head shots to guts.

It does exactly what I need it to for what I bought it for

I won one and put a Bushnell red dot sight on it

I intend to use it for pigs like Feliciana, but to this point have only unloaded a half dozen mags at random shite around the camp

Rock River Arms.

Solid platform and has a great 2 stage trigger from the jump. choose one with chrome moly barrel and call it a day.

For a low budget AR, get a complete upper/lower from palmetto state armory. I love my three rifles from them, and just picked up the lower to finish my pa10 that I'm all in at 470 bucks.

EDIT: 570, fat fingered it.

$470 for a PA-10? I’m about $580 in mine from PSA. How’d you manage $470?

Sorry, 570. 399 for upper and 170 for lower. Typo.

I'm not aware of any carbon steel AR barrel offerings that are not chromium molybdenum alloys, which is your 41XX steels, except obviously for the stainless offerings. However, for the OPs use, any US made stainless, 4140 or 4150 barrel from a reputable manufacturer should serve him just fine.
