Morning, all. I have to remove a large, mature cypress tree from my yard and do not want it to go to waste. An arborist is coming this week to cut it down and leave it on the property. Ideally, we could get a couple of items made from the tree to put in our home, with the leftover material being kept by the person doing the woodworking for us.

Is anyone here experienced in this sort of thing, or know of someone I can contact? We are in the Baton Rouge area.

Thanks!

If e-mail is preferred I can be reached at: jrcehc@gmail.com

Better not be in a hurry as it will take a good while to dry out that cypress to be able to be used for woodworking, especially if no kiln is used.

I do a lot of woodworking and prefer to use cypress, but have no machinery to mill trees into useable wood.

There’s a guy on hwy107 near DuPont you could reach out to. Has his own mill and only deals with cypress I believe. All I got..
