In some areas I hunt I do have challenges finding a good tree where I need it. Either straightness, size or limbs prohibit me being where I wnat to be at times.

I have trouble on my lease. If I happen to find a tree that I like with no limbs that I could climb, the bottom 5-6 feet of the tree is inevitably twice the diameter than the rest of the tree. This makes it really difficult with a climber.

I have always been a fan of using a climber until recently. I hunted 8 straight days on public land on an out of state hunt earlier. I only brought lock ons and sticks. I never once wished that I had a climber.

And once you get proficient with the sticks (spacing, etc.), it is as easy and fast as a climber. I will say it is not as comfortable on sits longer than 3 hrs or so. For the money, I have no idea why Wolf doesn't put a better seat on the stand..

That's my concern. Sometimes I will hunt all day in my viper and even that gets uncomfortable after spending that much time in it.

I like the spikes like this on the Treewalker. That's exactly what an Ol man is missing.

Agreed. LW needs to modify those seats. I do add some cushion to mine

Serious question, is it that hard to find a tree in the woods with no limbs up 20'?

Depends on where you are hunting. Plus, add bowhunting into the equation, and you have to be within 30-35 yards, downwind of where you think they will walk. I prefer the climber, but there are certain spots where I have to use my Lone Wolf Alpha and stix. Usually on the edge of a bayou or slough, where the trees are short or very branched out due to more sun. Sometimes i will hang to foot of my climber 5' up on a cypress, and pull my fat arse up just so i don't have to use the LWA. That thing scares me.

bowhunting you will want more than one type. summit, API, lone wolf, ole man are all good climbers. pick one that you like for as features, some are tradeoffs. light weight, strong, comfortable, etc. pick the ones with the features that are most important to you. they all get heavy if you have to pack them over a quarter of a mile.

once you have that one picked out, pick you out a lock on and some sticks. same thing with the features. muddy harness and sticks are nice.

you will add to your arsenal.
