Mine are shot. Need to change em. They've already been changed once so there's no rivets to deal with.

Idler arm/pittman arm/tie rod ends are also in bad shape but not about to explode yet.

Does anybody have a rough time/dollar estimate for this job for two fairly inclined people and a case of beer?

I thought you measured your time in cases of beer?

It's so hard to do accurately with mechanic work.

True. You run into a hangup and boom 2 beers gone in seconds.

You need a press of some sort to press the new ball joints in?

I'm more concerned with getting the old ones out.

They're so bad that I'm scared to drive it.

the top bj unbolts if theyve been done before.

the bottom you can knock out with a hammer but you will need a ball joint press to install.you can use a 12" or larger c clamp and some sockets or pipe if you cant get a bj press.

save money and bruised elbows. Swap out the entire control arms from rockauto.com.

Otherwise you will need a press, and if you are keeping the car you are better off changing the control arms out completely

Hows swapping out the control arms any cheaper? Doesn't make any sense to me.

ETA: It's also got a suspension lift and idk if the control arms are factory or not.
