Have a 1.5 yr old catahoula/red bone mix and he is pretty great. Has a lot of energy but if I let him out to play with the farm animals...which he loves (they all tolerate him which I find weird) for about 30 min...he is good to go. Only downfall is he is a cat shite gobbler. Have to stay on him to stop. Otherwise he is smart, sweet, likes to sit with people but knows where his bed is and is content to sleep most days away on it.

I had one….excellent dog overall. Very loyal and protective. He was hell on other animals, though and would fight in a second.

Catahoula curs were used to round up hogs. They can be mean and they can be sweet. Depends on how they are raised. Can be trained as a squirrel dog or to track deer too. Hard headed dogs sometimes but very territorial and protective.

I have a male that just made a year old. He’s hard headed, but a smart dog. He’ll bay anything as well and is very independent.

Fine dogs. Mine’s been gone several years, miss making rounds in the woods with him. Fearless, strong, and hardheaded. Loved the woods. Loved to hunt. Puppy stage was pretty rough…
Swallowed a full grown fox squirrel whole ( didn’t think he was going to survive that ordeal), got head stuck in a milk jug, went up the road a piece, stole and drug a huge bag of trash to my house and destroyed it.
Want another one pretty badly. LOL

Only dogs I've grown up with. Have 2 currently, the female is deaf as can be. Both are great with my 4-year-old.
