Calcasieu Lake Fishing Recommendations

I’ve got a boat for a few days he’s letting me use. Its been a while since I fished Big Lake. I was hoping to stay closer to the launches and fish the bank on the east side of the lake. I used to fish the weirs some years ago. Will I have and luck this time of year along that east bank with live shrimp fishing for reds? Any cuts to try and fish in?

Early August is hard fishing. I’d head south with live shrimp and fish the west cove area and lower ship channel. Also look for birds working around the lake.
