Buying a four wheeler from out of state

Went to Brookhaven and bought a new four wheeler at the end of October. Paid cash for it and guy at dealership told me I had to pay taxes on it when I got back to Louisiana. Any truth to that? I know most people used to go to Mississippi to avoid that.

Are you commi? Pay your taxes man. IRS is tracking thread.

Not a commi just didn’t know if he was telling me that because he had to or if I actually had to.

Yes you do and I think they've cracked down on that in many recent years

Louisiana will hold the title until you pay the taxes. Pay now and avoid any penalty.

I bought mine in MS as well. The dealership sends the info to your state revenue office. About 6 months later you get a bill from the state for the taxes.
What is your credit worth to you? Or, what about being on any list the government has where you owe them money?
I bought a 10k side by side and the tax was right at $200. That is cheap vs the peace of mind knowing that the state is not looking to arse rape me, more so than their usual ways of taxation.
