Bussey Bayou/Brake/Lake/Retention Pond.

When I departed at 10 this morning there were 47 boats on the water….on a Tuesday morning. Can’t imagine what it’s like in the spring.
Crazy thing is we still caught bass.
We fished one stretch of trees that was maybe 300 yards long. We fished one side and another boat worked the other. No big ones but lots of fun.

Can you still see the chimney? That was were my gramps house was before they moved it. He owned a big portion of bussey and did a land swap with IP. Fishing was shite out there when I was growing up so we never fished it. Wasn’t open yet when dad died in 2016, he would’ve been there daily.

I’m surprised. Last summer, especially during the week, there was almost no one there. I think the lack of shade deterred most people. It gets insanely hot out there.

My first time going, I caught one just shy of 11lbs, followed by one right at 10lbs off that stretch. The first is on my wall. You could keep one over 16” then. Yeah, I kept her. She put her genetics in that “pond” for probably 10 years prior.
