Bow string wax? I bought some and was wondering

when (after how many shots) and where (whole string, around cams, etc) to apply. First year bow hunting and have been practicing and someone told me i needed to be waxing my string, ha. any insight to a newb?

I just wax mine any time I see frays or the hair standing up on the strings.
