The value of the Mathews is going to depend on what model it is. See if you can find the model sticker on it. Oh, and you'll spend some money for a new cam on the Mathews unless your draw length is the same as your FIL's. You can't adjust a Mathews cam - they are draw length specific.

I have slightly longer arms but I shoot targets with his bows at his settings. I'm comfortable with it but I could probably go get it adjusted.

After reading reviews, I'm gonna try to take his switchback off his hands
just got to figure a price.
Stupid arse question that I coul probably avoid by googling but what's the rubber tube thing coming off the Mathews?

If you're talking about the multi-colored thing on the front that's a stabilizer. It's supposed to help balance the bow after you shoot it. Just a note on the Switchback XT value - there's a guy on a local trading board trying to get $550 for one.

The bow on the right looks like a Switchback XT. That's the one you should buy, it's a 2006 model, but still considered one of the best hunting bows Mathews has built. It's not blazing fast (315 IBO) but is as smooth drawing as you'll find, dead in the hand after the shot, and very quiet. I still can't find a bow that that justifies spending the money to replace mine. I'd offer 350-400 depending on the accessories and string/cable condition.
Keep in mind that you'll have to replace the cam if its not the right draw length. Solo Cams are draw length specific. A new cam will run you 50-75 and new strings and cables will run a little north of 100

The definitive place for second hand values on a bow is Archery Talk message board. There should be a sub-forum for bows for sale. I'd go lurk it if I were you. OR you could let your FIL throw out a price....

Everything is mint and a everything with it. Like I said, he isn't one to go half assed when he gets shite so all accessories included. Even a target deer/decoy.

See, and this sounds stupid, I know I can get a cheap price from him. He loves me. I can get a deal off him that he probably really wouldn't be comfortable letting it to for. That's why I want a reasonable price. Sounds dumb for not taking advantage but u REALLY respect the man and don't want to low ball him just bc I can.
Ill look into that. Appreciate all the quick and thorough answers. Love this board.

I'd say it's wise to keep in good graces with the FIL. If it hasn't been shot much then the string won't need to be changed, but I'd take it to a pro shop and let them give it a once over. You're going to have issues in the long run if you don't have the correct draw length on the bow. I'd tell your FIL you want it but would want to see what it would cost you to have the correct draw length.

You and everyone else has given great advice. I would have never known about the solo cam not being able to be adjusted.
