Mine stays in montegut, I fish big lake with a friend pretty regular. We go during the week most of the time so we don't have to fight the crowd.

On a Saturday trip in Big Lake if birds are working I HIGHLY recommend bringing several bags of chips! Not only will they draw huge swarms of birds, they will leave a huge slick...both should draw crowds of boats so you can go fish the real groups of birds working fish!

Big Lake is being significantly overfished and I believe this fishery could collapse in the next few years.

The winning trout will come from 0 milemarker and the boat that catches it will be sitting on the spot hours before daylight and they will be drowning small mullets!

Its that or washout, every single year!
last tourney I fished there had a 5 fish stringer of 32.8 LBS.

All on Corky's wade fishing.
All fish released alive after weigh-in.

but it was in big lake.
I didn't say it was in either of those spots.
Most were caught on the NE. side of the lake

By numbers of boats you may think this but besides the guides and a small % of fishermen, many strike out on trout and end up catching Reds or Croakers, Hardheads, Sheephead, etc....
So unless theres some scientific study going on I dont know about I have to disagree with this since the trout arent confined to just Big Lake, but have the offshore waters and the marshes to live, hide, feed and breed in.
This is just my opinion of course.
