If he is a member of SS he should know better. Nothing but small basket racks and pine thickets there!!!

She told him the stand she hunted at Somerset.

I can't say because I don't know them, just going by what she told my buddy.

My buddy was also aware of the linage of that deer.

So your Grandfather was the World Famous N.L. Moncrief? Cool.

Is your Dad Steve or John?

Then you must know "short arm". He turned me on to a single lily pad on the place where I could catch 80 chinquapin.

I was more partial to whooping them White Perch right in front of the dock during February. I was pretty good at smashing them until Mark caught me one day. It all came to a screeching halt shortly after............ least for me.

Where you friends with David O'D..... also?

When I talk with him, I'll pass that tidbit along. he was interested when I told him people were talkin about the Tonga on here and that someone said "they broke the mold"

His comment was, "sounds like someone who knew him pretty well"

One afternoon I put my old 14' duracraft fitted with a wore out Johnson 9 1/2 in at the ramp.

Wind was blowing and the fricker wouldn't crank. Wind blew me up against the fence by the fish cleaning deck.

To kill time, I hooked a cricket on my ultra lite and threw it right next to the fence. Cork went straight under......again and again.

I took the motor cover off and pretended to work on it as a few members put their boats in. They asked me if I needed help and I just said thanks, motors flooded....while having a big chinq on the line. Top of my ice chest was flopping from the bream and I never cranked the motor.

I grew up right down the street from Doc. Do ya'll still have that place outside of Ruston? In his last couple of months he would bring me homegrown tomato's from there. I knew him well and I know John & Steve. It really is a small world.

No, I wish we did. After he passed, the neighbor on 167 (who was leasing most of the land for his cattle) offered his last wife to buy it and she sold it. Made me sick... spent a lot of time there as a little boy: guns, fishing, 3 wheelers, camping, etc

I hate to hear this. It was a very special place where I learned to bass fish, something that started me down the road to the career I now enjoy. I was very close with Rex, was in business with him for several years and helped John with the "cattle" operation there when I was in college. Please tell your Dad that John said hello. I hope he's doing well these days. He also turned me onto "real" music back in the day.
