Big Branch is an NWR (National Wildlife Refuge) which is part of the Federal System.

It is NOT and WMA, which is part of the Wildlife Managment Area system operated by the State of Louisiana.

The rules for Big Branch are much more stringent than those for WMAs, as the Feds love being peculiar about things.

Please read the hunting/fishing brochure/booklet for the rules and regulations. Also be sure to sign the first page and keep that on you at all times when hunting. 25-26 Huntng Booklet SELA NWR System

Regarding the hunting, it can be ok. The deer in the Marsh and edge of the same are not the biggest in the world. Some good deer (115-120') have came off of it.

There are more deer in the marsh than people think. Find an oak flat on the edge of the marsh and sit and you can catch them coming out to feed

Do you plan to hunt by boat or road?
This makes a big difference.
