Best place to buy a camper in SELA
Looking at buying a camper this year sometime. I’ve heard mix reviews about Bents and Dixie RV. I heard good things about Berryland. What are y’all experiences with these places, or maybe one I haven’t mentioned. I would like a place with good customer service for warranty work, etc.

Bought mine at Gautier's in Lafayette after having Berryland and Gautier compete on the price.

I have heard more good than bad about Berryland, more bad than good about Dixie.

I am a do it yourselfer, so unless I have a major failure, I will fix it myself as opposed to leaving it at dealer for weeks at a time. For many warranty issues you can bypass the dealer and go to manufacturer yourself and get a quicker resolution.

I have 2019 model camper I'm about to put back on the market with still a few years of warranty left. If you want a good deal on a Forest River Puma 32RBFQ with a washer/dryer, let me know. Bringing it to Berryland tomorrow to get some warranty work and maintenance done on it.

Bought a Grand Design from Dixie a year ago.

(Stay the frick outta camping world. Shits expensive. You can get necessities from Walmart and “wants” for the internet.)

Haven’t had any issues with them yet and the salesmen has called to check on us once every month or two.

I’m positive that everyone’s experience isn’t the same as every RV dealer has shite reviews on the internets.

But like highpockets said I’ll fix anything that isn’t a major issue before I spend the time to bring it in and have it sit there for weeks/months getting fixed.
You will be fixing something(though i haven’t needed to yet). You can’t pull a house down the road without something coming loose eventually.

I’ve read plenty about how even dealers have a hard time getting warranty work straight with Manufacturers. Which is why we went with Grand Design because their reputation was the most consistently good that we read about.

Also, depending on where you live you may have other options then the dealer to get your warranty work done.

Ive bought campers from Berryland and Bents. Never again from Bents. Berryland was a pleasure to work with. Also bought a used van years ago from Berryland auto in Ponchy and had same experience.

I couldnt pass up the deal Bents had and Berryland couldnt get close. It saved me about $3000 but its been a PITA dealing with Bents after the sale.

I’m fine with fixing things myself. Any suggestions about what to bring when towing, outside of a basic tool kit?

A small floor jack if you have a place to fit it and a 4-way lug wrench.

Keep some various pex plumbing fittings. They make some that don’t need to be crimped.

Tape
Zip ties
.........
Channel locks if you didn’t consider that basic.
