Polartec Power Dry ECWCS stuff is very good in the silk weight version. Very warm for the weight, fast drying and second skin fit.
Purchased my first set of this last Saturday in Mitchell, SD (for a pheasant hunt). The temps ranged from 50 degrees with a gusting wind of 20-25 mph to 30 degrees and snowing. This stuff kept me warm and dry. Mine was purchased on sale for around $35-$40 per garment.

You ski/snowboard in camo?

U ski in camo – that was how you would ID a coonass in Colorado/Utah on teh slopes back in the day – camo jacket/bibs and black dot gloves from the plant
No. I snowboard in my NF or HH gear. I figured I could kills two birds with a good base layer for both.

The best base layer that I have ever found was silk. Like these Thermasilk
There is nothing like 100% silk for its wicking ability and heat retention. At most I will put on a pair of sweat pants over them if we are hunting in water. Of course, my chest waders are 5mm neoprene with 1000g Thinsulate for the feet. Never been cold.

Depends how you hunt. Long walk to stand requires something that wicks, yet will still be warm when seated for several hours. Alx makes fun, but i love Patagonia Capilene, in the various weights, depending on how cold. It is made for skiing, so high exertion activity, and wicks sweat very well. Newer stuff has stink killer in it too.
I also use some Medalist stuff with silvermax. Works well.

2 weight Capeline is all you need for most conditions. When it gets really cold here i use 3 weight. you can get it on eBay or wait for their sales on off colors after the season. I would not get a one piece suit, b/c you want to be able to remove stuff. Here in La it may start at 30 degrees, then warm up to 60, so best if you can take stuff off during the day. when i do an all day hunt i'll take off the bottoms during my mid-day scout/nap.

Check out Terramar and Wickers, which are both commonly found on Sierra Trading Post. I have tried Underarmor, Patagonia Capilene, Cabelas, and Terramar and Wickers are still my top choice.
