They must be increasing. We've seen them on my land in south MS (Perry County) this year for the first time. When I reported it to MSWLF, they said they would love to tag it but had no more undeployed tracking tags. There must be way more bears than normal.

Unfortunately, as soon as dog/deer season opened, we have not seen the bear again...

They are more adept at crossing rivers than I-85. A few years ago, a large one tried that in Gwinnett county (metro Atlanta). Ruined one guys night (and car). He's now in the Bass Pro Shop.
