I know I had a somewhat similar thread about painting door handles a few weeks ago, but I was curious if anyone here ran an auto body shop that did paint work and could tell me what a rough estimate would be for having door handles, mirror caps, tailgate handle piece, and front and back bumpershellz would be? Do these things hinge on the specific color? (as in are some color codes more expensive than others?). Or is this something that some dealerships do? I know the local Ford dealership here does not have a paint shop that I am aware of.

Edit: I can delete and move this to another board (OT maybe?) if this is the wrong spot, I just trust the ODB more with stuff like this than the OT, and they would likely refer me here anyway. Sorry to clutter the board with non-hunting stuff. Hope everyones seeing success in the woods/on the water.

color change the price goes way up

on average each fender/wing or bumper will be around $800 each

its all the labor and prep involved that gets you, the paint for each fender/wing or bumper will be around $200 of that $800 cost

to do all you listed i would guess somewhere in the $3k range to do all that and i bet the price wouldnt change all that much to just have them do a complete respray rather then spot painting stuff which is a lot more labor and time intensive to do

Holy moly. Ok thanks for the heads up. I have all of the parts and they aren't on the truck (bought textured plastic replacements) but I may just try to sand them down myself and do a youtube DIY job, the oem paint is expensive but I think they sell pints for much less than that. The bumpershellz are pre-primed and basically just pieces that tape on and wedge over the pre-existing chrome bumper.

I knew it wouldn't be "cheap" but that was a lot more than I expected. thanks.

Edit: I guess that leads me to my next question, does anyone from around the CenLa/Alex area have a paint shop that they have had good experiences with. Painting myself will be a last resort as I suck at all things paint.

I could probably do that, but its ruby red metallic or whatever the frick the Ford name of the color is lol so Idk if I could get it to match easily. I looked into that some, I'll do a little more research on it and see.

touissant customs on highland road is by far the best paint guy in the 225. dude is awesome. that being said he is not cheap but the cheaper you go on paint the worse it looks. personally i bought a 60 gallon air compressor, hooked up two filters for the air, and bought the oem chevy paint, primer, and clear for my old truck. im absolutely no expert but its not as hard as it seems. the hardest part is finding a nice vented place to spray so nothing contaminates the paint. ive tried my hand at painting, powdercoating, the whole nine yards, id rather learn myself than pay someone.

Yeh BR is not totally out of the question. I have al local shop that I'm going to try to stop by and get a quote from and see, and if its looking like its gonna be absurdly expensive then I'll just get the spray can compressor thing. Its not really painting the truck, so much as painting handle covers that are taken off, mirror caps that are taken off, and the bumper shellz. Next time I pass through BR I'll stop by Touissant Customs and Fact-to-Bake and try to get a quick quote.

Edit: Thanks for the input.

First. Year, make, and model.

Second. Nobody is gonna paint textured. Cheaper to buy paint to match and toss the textured.

Third. Paints differ but for the pint and a half you need, not much difference.

18 f150 xlt.

As far as the textured, I know my local body shop does it (they are just on vacation so I was trying to see what a rough estimate of pricing would be in the meantime) and I have seen beaucoup threads on f150forum of body shop guys doing it, you apparently just have to sand it down and have the right chemicals to allow the paint to stick. I didn't have textured on it, it has a chrome package but it was a used truck and so I'm trying to get rid of the chrome. The bumpershellz are paint to match though. Its just handles and mirror caps that are textured.
