Need to be fresh and larger, I use iqf from Albertsons. Pinch large in half and use a 3/0 khale hook with 3/8 split shot 4” on top. Don’t Whip Casts!!!!!!!!

Good advice above. Be careful with your casting. Smooth motion. You can also hook the shrimp by inserting from the tail, turning the hook once it gets to the curve in the gap, then pushing the barb/point through the top or back of the shrimp. This won’t really work with kahle hooks though.
As far as keeping non target fishing from eating your shrimp, not much you can do there.

Fresh, never frozen works best. Hook it through the tail (hardest part of shell) from bottom up and it will stay on better.
