What’s the process
Hop on silencer shops web site and find a dealer near you with a sid kiosk.

have a Colt M4 (5.56mm) and want a pretty nice suppressor.
If you just want a dedicated 556 can, I’ve been really happy with my griffin armament m4sdk. I own an surefire socom and have shot most of the 556 cans on the market. I’d invest in the griffin again in a heartbeat. Fits over pretty much any muzzle devise based off an a2 birdcage so no proprietary muzzle devises to buy, good suppression, blow back isn’t horrible, not too expensive.
If you’re looking for a 30 cal option they do the 30sd.
If you don’t want to be limited to ARs I’d look into other options but those are so numerous it’s a waste of time to make suggestions not knowing more about your list of requirements. Lots of guys out there making good stuff and it’s hard to go wrong picking a can these days.
It’s more about finding the right one that meets your end use. If I were you I would make a list of attributes and then rank them and let that be your guide to a can.
Those attributes may include: weight, pos/poi shift, modularity, blowback, etc.
Rank them and find a can that fits that guide.
