i'm looking to do something a little different, when season ends.
as some of you know me and my brother leased a 45 acre plot for the first time this year. it's a new cutover.
we've got all sorts of critters in/around it. Red and gray foxes, mink, .....
are the mouth calls sufficient? when a critter comes out, do you stop blowing? or keep doing it until he gets much closer?
what critter is the hardest to get to come in?
any advice is appreciated
we will be in a ground blind...

I've done it a little with a mouth call and all I've ever got were bobcats. Coyotes seem to know better.

Mouth calls work well if you know how to use them of course. YouTube is great for learning them.
Keep callin until you shoot. It's not like calling ducks. You might call a little less aggressively if you have something commited. Electronic calls are FRICKIN AWESOME. They are like cocain and vermints cants resist them.

Call cross wind or into the wind. Make sure the sun is at your back. Tie a feather to a piece of string for a focus point for the varmint. And the coyote is by far the toughest to call in. They get educated on sounds and scents REALLY quick. It's a blast to hunt them just be patient. Good luck.

good idea on that feather. obviously they need a focal point.

good idea on that feathe
set it up on a jerk cord to add movement. it will keep them focused on something other than you. its a blast.
one word of caution - DON'T do it when it is getting too dark to see or after dark if you are going to be sitting on the ground. me and a group of dumb arse friends did this once and damn near had coyotes in our lap! we all had to clean our pants after.
