Heading south this weekend with the kids and was hoping to set some nets out. Anyone having any luck?

Saw a few females with eggs on them while offshore fishing this weekend. I would say they have to have a few crabs on the beach.

They have some but are very small. Needs another 1.5 months.

Beginning of August will absolutely be the time to get those puppies.

that's when they are so thick in the surf you can scoop them up with a net...
mostly all females in the berry stage though...

We caught 18 I think last weekend
The ones we caught were very big, but it’s early for it to get good. 18 over an entire weekend isn’t very good

Still too early. Last week of July through first week of August are usually the best weeks.

I caught about 6 dozen over a couple of hours yesterday. Half were good boiling size and half were cleaned for stews.
Worked my arse off between the strong tide and currents though.
