Anybody feel like this ETS Glock mag is a time bomb?

That follower spring is struggling. I wanted to keep it loaded for my Stern Defense AR, but I feel like this thing is about to bust at the seams.

I only buy the OEM Glock mags. Never had an issue with one of their mags and I've heard ETS and others struggle.

Keeping a good magazine loaded all the time is fine.

Can’t say the same about cheap and poorly made magazines.

I am starting to give the springs a break once a week. Unload and reload all mags. Not sure if it helps or not.

the only thing that wears out a spring is compressing and decompressing. Leaving it compressed or decompressed doesn't work the spring.

Yes. Cycling kills a spring.

Like at work in our big actuators. Cycling them wears that spring out. We have ESDs that get stroked once every six months. Been there for years and years.

Some in the plant stroke every 8 seconds and they get changed out every 8-12 months

And I would probably throw that mag in the trash, honestly. Maybe AFTER things get back to “normal”, though.

Does it function well in the gun? Spring steel is made to be compressed. If the spring alignment is causing a malfunction then get rid of the mag or make it a 28 rd mag instead of a 30. I would bet if all mags were see through, you might be surprised to see what the springs look like when the mag is fully loaded. But if it functions properly?

ETA: I'm referring to large capacity mags. It takes a lot of spring travel to shove 30 rounds that far. You would have to make the mag 3 inches longer to keep from getting that over compressed spring look. How hard is it to get that last round to load? If you can load the last round without applying an unreasonable amount of pressure, I think you will be alright.

I’ve considered that. 20 or 25.

I've had problems with the ETS mags in my sub2K. Pop in a glock mag and no problems...

Yeah, the 33rd Glock mag is $34.99 right now on Brownells. Originally, it was hard to pay that much since I bought 3 of the ETS mags for the price. Might have to do it anyway.
