I’m a little frustrated with my “new” rifle today. I bought a nosler m48 custom 28 nosler a few months back and I’ve only shot it to test hand loads. So I loaded them into the chamber 1 at a time. Last night I loaded up some bullets for rifle season and went to put them into the gun just for a test fit and cycle and they ended up being too long for the internal magazine. No big deal. I seated them a little deeper and they fit fine. The problem is, the magazine isn’t holding them tight enough. So when I eject the round from the chamber, the top one in the magazine pops all the way up and the bolt grabs the second one because it’s where the top one is supposed to be. If that makes sense. It’s like it’s double feeding. It does it with 2 or 3 in the magazine.
So basically the only thing I can do is have 1 in the chamber and 1 in the magazine. I don’t plan to miss twice, but I do want my rifle to function properly. Does anybody know why it would be doing this?

Does it have a mag box like a Remington bdl?

Yeah it’s internal like that. Open the bolt and push them down. It’s not detachable.

It may have a metal mag box in it that incorporated the feed lips. You may just have to beend them in. It's just a piece of metal.

mag box like this

Edit: I was typing and uploading the pic when you and Kengel replied . Definitely a magazine box , feeding lip issue. - see below

Not 100% familiar with the Nosler M48… does it have a detachable box magazine or a BDL style bottom metal ? The internal magazine box feed lips (and possibly the follower spring) need to be adjusted / modified. I would NOT alter the feed lips or magazine box until calling Nosler customer service. It’s a fixable problem yet you may void any warranty if fixing yourself or having a GS alter the factory parts. Nosler may just send you a new replacement part.

This needs to be fine tuned and adjusted to fix the feeding issues.

It has the bdl style bottom metal. I’m not too concerned with warranty issues if it’s something I can do myself

Feed lips/ramp are not right for that caliber. Send it back. Thats an expensive rifle to not have it working perfectly.

Theres tons of videos on feed lip tuning for detachable mags. Its the same principle. In your case, you need to bend them in.

Id still call Nosler at some point.

Youll need to take the action screws out and remove the bottom metal to get to the internal box. If you choose to do it yourself, just make sure you bend them uniformly and itll probably take a couple times.

Id probably rezero the rifle after since you are removing the action screws.

If you have taken your stock off of your Barrell you didn’t get a good fit when putting it back together, take it apart and make sure that the magazine is in properly when you put the stock back on the Barrell
