Angler Kayak advice for beginner?

My kid wants to get into this… I’ve joined some Facebook groups, but just learning the ropes. We’ve got several fishing boats, but never had a kayak.
Any pitfalls to avoid or must-haves? Brands or types to avoid? Propulsion preference? Searching for something used, because we will need 2 of them.
Kid is almost 15 and skinny. I’m gonna need a sturdier boat than him. He got a little 13 foot boat that terrifies me to be on with him, I don’t trust the stated capacity for it…
He wants to be able to hit pretty much any lake without the hassle of a boat launch.

I have a Hobie mirage outback and a perception Stryker on a Malone aluminum trailer.
Outback has been in the water 2 times. I bought it brand new. Has the flipper drive.
I bought the perception used. Great kayak.
They need some cleaning up.
Sell them to you for $600. If you are interested let me know.
I’d like to sell them. I’m not 15 and the knees don’t like getting in and out of them.

I would try and find a company that rents them and test it out before buying one.
