Question for y'all. I have found an LMT upper without bolt carrier and front rail but it's cheaper than I can but one with cheap stuff.

Thinking about buying it because I have heard that LMT makes a really good product.

What do y'all think?

LMT is good, but seriously look at spikes tactical or Bravo company before purchasing. They have much better offerings.

I've only heard good things about LMT. It's usually more pricey than the others too.

I want to build too, just to know how it's assembled and have more knowledge of the weapon. However, I've run across a RRA with light, front grip/bipod, laser, scope and handle, fully assembled for $850. Anyone have any thoughts on this... Should I buy or build?

Right now, you can get some factory rifles for pretty cheap because people that bought them when obama was elected realize he isnt going to do anything stupid. They now need the money with the way our economy is going. Make an offer of like 700 or 750 on the RRA and see if he needs money.

More questions for the group.

Have a buddy that tries to make it sound like I'd be an idiot to not get a chrome lined barrel or a two stage trigger? Thoughts?

Chrome lined is nice and cheap enough now.

However, dont go looking for a chrome lined stainless barrel.

2 stage triggers are nice for varmint, precision, long range ARs.

For a carbine just stick with the single stage, we've been doing fine with our single stage crap triggers in the military and it will get smoother with use. Single stage or whatever comes with your lower parts kit will be fine for a carbine.

I've been on both, and I am having a hard time beating the deal on this LMT.

I thought so. Quality components and I haven't been able to find it anywhere close to that price.

I have a samson Rail if anyone is interested...

https://www.samson-mfg.com/ar-15_html/category/STAR_Carbine_Rails.html

It is 7 inch i beleive. very nice quad rail. I shaved down my front post sight to a low profile gas block only and put a longer smooth rail on it for competition. thought about saving it for another build but if somoeone offers the right price ill sell!

How hard is it to remove the front site and replace it with a gas block?

bump for great thread and new questions.

just purchased a palmetto state armory complete lower LINK
a rock river arms BCG + charging handle.

now all thats left is to pick out an upper. Definitely gonna go with a 1:7 twist, chrome lined barrel but I cant decide between a middy or a longer length. I like the LMT uppers and I also like the BCM middy (just checked, sold out).

Any other recommendations? How are the deltons?

I'm in love with the Rock River Tactical Operator 2. It has almost everything I want(quad rail with free floating barrel, ergo grip, two stage trigger) so I would only add a light on the side, an Aimpoint red dot and a vertical foregrip. They are "on sale" for $1000 with two mags and a case but you can find them for $950 online.
