I've got a litter mate of your labkin. She's 35 lbs of pure energy. Wide open all the time and loves the water. She jumps like I've never seen a dog jump before. Took her to the sportsman show to jump off the dock and she went about 18 feet with very little practice.I haven't had her dive - going to give it a shot next time we're around a pool.

Here's my other dog - another one of the labkin litter mates, Bourré. He is 2 y/o and 38#

Just like his lsufishnhunt's, wide open 100% of the time and jumps like a freaking jack rabbit. Loves the water and has an awesome disposition. He is FINALLY starting to settle down. Everyone thinks he is a lab puppy. He looks nothing like a boykin.

When I picked mine, I picked him due to the long ears like a boykin.

After many years of owning different labs, this sucker is wide arse open all day. He gives my other dogs hell. I will try to get a picture today of him diving.

Here is Buster. Always under my feet. Very vocal and yes, jumps like a rabbit. Anything that swims, flies or runs, he tries to catch it.

Breeder was Greg Copeland with Texas trace in Hempstead, Tx. I was on a waiting list for 8 months to get him, females are longer wait as I understand - Greg is the only breeder in Houston area. I think he had 2 litters of 11 pups back to back that really cleared his waiting list though.

Guy is interesting to say the least. You have to go for an interview before he'll let you put down a deposit. Based on your personality, what you plan to use the dog for, preferred sex, etc, he picks your dog for you based on fit. Sounds crazy, he literally decides 2 days before the take home date, but everyone I know that has gotten a dog from him has been satisfied.

This is the way a reputable breeder handles themselves.

Not what you think it is. We all realized (at least I did) that we were getting a "mixed breed mutt". A poster on the site had an accident between his lab and his Boykin. He started a thread on here and several posters ended up with one of the pups.

It's interesting though... I've lost count of the number of people who ask me where they can get one.... My answer is always the same: "nowhere, unless you find someone willing to breed a Boykin with a Labrador."

Yes, he is and he was fixed as all mutts should be done. Still, my mutt will out hunt most full blood labs, I train a mixed lab in the past for hunting which was an outstanding dog. I have another one that is 15 years old and has been a outstanding hunting dog. Pure breed dogs DO NOT guaranty a good dog. More health problems too!
