Snow days seem to be not happening this year so admin uses "wind" as a reason to take those days off.

Our benevolent governor declared a state of emergency

It’s been gusty for 18 hours or so and non stop raining, but the kids should have been in school. Mine have been riding four wheelers in the minor flooding happening on our property all day.

It only costs us working folks when school is out. All teachers and admins pay should be docked when these decisions to close are made.

It was windy here today, gusts dang near to 40 mph. Sucks because I want to fish.

No school because of wind is nuts.

Yes but the one time a tornado hits a school full of kids, there will be hell to pay for the officials that did not let the kids off. Even if the chances of that happening are low, the officials are going to err on the side of caution on days when the threat of tornadoes is much higher than normal.

Someone referenced the 2013 Moore tornado that killed 7 third grades because a wall collapsed. One of the surviving students later committed suicide because of it.

Regarding the south Louisiana weather the other night, I don't remember anyone saying we were going to have 60+ mph winds.
