Just bought from a friend for a real good price. Boat has been sitting up for a couple years. We took it out yesterday with fresh gas and ran it. Started off rough, but eventually improved. Still kinda sluggish at times. What’s the best additive to use to clean the rest of the gunk out without having to take it apart?

Seafoam was designed to clean carbon out of 2 stroke engines, I'd start there. Don't be afraid to run it hard after it warms up, getting an engine good and hot also helps burn off carbon buildup.

Not until it's getting plenty of fuel, the number one killer of 2 strokes is running lean.

This!

Carbs are so easy to work on and clean. Get a few cans of carb cleaner and spray through every orifice. Take the jets out and clean those. Take the float and plunger out and clean the plunger tip and the plunger orifice.

That's usually all it takes and it'll be running like a bat out of hell. Really is simple.

Google the parts diagram for the year and model engine and that'll help you see what goes where.

Hell, YouTube has 1000's of videos on carb cleaning and you can probably find one for your exact motor with how popular the 25hp Yammy is.
