This was another complaint and if it was not digging in it would trip the clip release and the clip falls out

The marlin came in on thursday I topped it with a 4x12 x40 bsa sweet 17 with the ligted reticle. Went to the camp on saturday sighted in using the federal vshock three shotgroup smaller than a dime! The day was still young so we take out after the rabbits 5 shots 5 rabbits from 75 to 125 yards i am very happy with the rifle. One more thing The clip release is miles ahead of the savage that my friend has! Thanks for all the input and

I have Savage 22LR with bull barrel and accutrigger. I did not get it in stainless as I had first desired and now I wish I had. I love the gun but it has the same prblem witht he clip digging into my back when harnessed over the shoulder. I have never lost a clip tht way though. Mine is deadly accurate up to 75 yards. I think the inaccuracy after that range is me.

Last weekend, me and my buddy were nailing beer cans at 100 yards with my savage 22 and standard velocity bullets. We got so cocky that we were trying to shoot the tabs off, and doing a pretty good job until the wind got bad. Savage is the way to go for rimfire, if they would just fix the damn clip.

ETA: It's a bull barrel with accu-trigger and a cheapo 3-9x40 scope

Yeah, I don't like the way the Savage bolt action rimfire clips stick out so much from the stock. One of the things I like about my 10/22's is the fact that the area in front of the receiver is flat, making it more comforable to carry in my hand. OTOH, the Savage has the clip sticking out so I'm always having to work around the clip when carrying it in my hand. The Savage clip doesn't bother me when I carry it w/ the sling, though. All you have to do is change your sling carry. I've always carried all my slung guns upside down on the off-side shoulder instead of across my back. The method I use is also much faster to bring the gun into a shooting postion and it's already in a "hasty sling" position. The potential downside to this carry position is falling forward or sinking in a wet area and possibly getting material in the end of the barrel. After over 30 years of carrying my rifles this way, I've never had an obstructed barrel. Rarely had any mud or dirt in the barrel, but nothing that couldn't be taken care of in the field.
