They aren't cheap but the predator 2000kw from harbor freight is quiet. I use one on my flounder boat.

Serious question before I go buy one. Are you just saying it's 'way too loud" because you've heard one run, or because Honda has a reputation for being the least noisy generator?

I agree a Honda generator is the quietest I've ever heard run. But if you load one up, it's not like you can sleep with it under your bed. In fact, I bought into the Honda hype and purchased one for night fishing. The first time I cranked it up unloaded I was amazed. That thing just sat and purred. Then we cut the lights on and my heart sank. It was quieter than the Generac I had been running, but it was not $2000 quieter. I still wanted it 100ft away on a long extension cord while I fished. I will say that was about 11 years ago and that Honda is still running, but so is the Generac.

They aren’t loud at all. I have had one for 4-5 years. I run true fuel in it. Good for lights and stuff around the camp

Which one are you referring to. The HF TailGator or the Northern Tool Ironton?

The harbor freight one. Bought mine years ago. It’s blue but looks exactly the same other than that

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping it was the NT gen. Would really like to hear someone's personal experience before I buy. I have one from NT that is almost identical to the HF gen. It's blue and I believe it's a model that HF used to sell. Slightly higher rated watts than the green Tail Gator. But it's a little under powered for my fishing lights. The NT 4 cycle would be perfect size and configuration.

Loud enough that your neighbors will be passed and then see you shop and Harbor Freight and understand you’re a poor. Then laugh at you

Jeeez! Okay, let's try this one more time, and this time I will make it simple for you.

1. I'm asking about the generator from Northern Tool, not Harbor Freight.

2. I'm asking if you have actually heard one run or if you're just talking out of your arse.

3. I don't run my fishing lights where my neighbors can hear the generator and get "passed".

4. I don't worry about what my neighbors think. That's apparently your issue, not mine.

On second thought, just forget it. If your hearing is as bad as your reading comprehension, I wouldn't trust your opinion anyway.

I drove past some guys using one while bbqing on the neutral the other day and was surprised at how quiet it was, always heard they were really loud. It's nice to hear some first hand reviews on these things.
