I thought the scandal was that the Chinese swimmers would be there. Are they not there?
After watching the Tour de France, I'm curious what happens in the endurance events.

Only 11 of the 23 that pissed hot for TMZ will be at this Olympics

They gave the Russian skater 4yr ban for TMZ, so this is interesting.
TMZ is not a PED though. There's no literature to show an effect and the mechanism doesn't exist. This is a problem with WADA - they don't require any evidence in order to ban something. Shifting some cardiac metabolism to glucose makes no sense - fat is dominant at rest and it throttles that pathway in order to shift more to glucose which is a losing proposition mathematically, and at high intensities the heart is almost entirely reliant on lactate. WADA is a gang of tards.

Saw a youtuber report that a French gymnast (an alternate) popped for something. She published it in Russian. I'll see if I can get an English citation.
I did find this interesting headline from 7 days ago: French women’s gymnastics team excels under new training regimen. Just in time for Paris Olympics
AP
Here we go:
French gymnast disqualified for doping before start of Olympics
athletistic
During the French Championships, the athlete underwent a doping test which proved positive for salbutamol. This drug is generally included in medications used to treat asthma.
This drug has been the subject of a lot of controversy over the years. Probably shouldn't be banned or at least the threshold needs to be elevated. Lot of athletes have exercise-induced asthma. Unless her levels were sky high this is probably another injustice from the idiots at WADA.

Apparently the first scandal was that 2 coaches from Canada’s women’s soccer team were sent home for using a drone to spy on New Zealand’s practice.

They allegedly found traces in a salt shaker at a Chinese training facility. By they i mean chinada. The levels were also incredibly low. Story is fishy, though.

I honestly know nothing on this substance to agree or disagree. Being mid 40s let's me sleep on what's new on the wada banned list. I didn't know what vadadustat was either, but I'm very suspicious when a drug not even on the us market, that is basically and epo producer, ends up in a distance swimmer's body. Even if we swam at the same college and club team, decades apart, it's still pretty shady looking.

Any group that would make Dick Pound their first president is sus af. I had a TUE (therapeutic use exemption) for my add meds, but the ncaa was very specific about not being hot in competition. A lot of foreigners hate on the high % of us swimmers for steroid asthma inhalers TUEs, and I get their point. Their goal is equality, but the results aren't indicating that's how it's playing out. Different length bans for the same substance is as goofy as it comes.

Lot of biochemistry and nuance but there is no evidence of performance enhancement and back before it was banned, it wasn't being used. The drug is super cheap and it's cleared from the system very quickly. People that take it for heart failure, have to take multiple doses per day.
When it was legal they looked at blood samples from a facility with top athletes in Europe: it was found in a ratio of 24 per 10,000. Any drug out of your system quickly, that is cheap and easy to get, would be a lot more common if it worked to enhance performance.
