Almost every topic in the past 24 hours has devolved into name calling and arguing blame. Can we not let things go and be happy we curb stomped the world as the only country with a medal count in 3 figures? Let the Euros have their cheap team sports. Let the Chinese have their juiced up athletes and hobbies like ping pong and diving. Can we not be happy knowing we have the best athletes in the world and that we EARN our medals with cheating being rare? We don't have to prove anything to anybody.

And damn those of you who are instigating this. 16 days of having ONE country where we drop the damn labels and cheer for our fellow Americans. Feel free to make an early exit from this board and resume your PoliBoard arguments. I love when Chicken opens this board up because I know there will be respectful conversations where we respect our fellow Team USA fans. It's a nice break from the zany OT board. Here's a little reminder of our unity in admiring these fine athletes...

I haven't seen much of the trash talk, at least not enough to ruin the board for me, and think this board has been pretty good.

Unfortunately, at this time our country is very polarized. Politics and social issues have invaded sport. Sports used to be something that caused us to rally together, but that has been eroded. That said, it's been tamped down quite a bit on this board and that's a good sign. I think people are starting to realize our differences are mostly pretty minor and our similarities are mostly pretty profound.
