Our stack is a 6th gen Shaffer. We use a transporter to move it to well center. It weighs as much as the space shuttle.

Or cranes can't lift it, it has to be broken down just like the way we installed. Our cranes are rated for 120t.

so you lower every piece to the seafloor and then use ROV's to put it together? I have never seen a SSBOP, they must be much much larger than the BOP's we have on the rig floor.

LOL NO it stays together. The transporter moves it from it's parked position to the the well center where we bolt the riser on and run it just like any other stack. You would probably also be suprised that we use aluminum riser.

Oh I got ya. I am more on the production side so I don't really see much of what goes on with drilling.
