Jesse Jackson, Obama, Daley all from Chicago and all skilled in the art of the shakedown. Obama learned well form Jesse and Daley and the other IL polititions! Att. Gen. Holder attended the shakedown meeting and BP ponied up $20Billion. I guess you would too if the guy that was going to be sending you to jail were at the meeting and if you refused you know who would be going to jail.

I consider myself to me a moderate conservative. I have no problem with the POTUS using his influence to get buck out of BP. BP could have said no but they did not,

I do have a problem with 2 months of near inaction on the part of the POTUS and Govt protecting the shoreline from the oil. There is no excuse for that.

Yeah...the President of the United States should act like a fricking mob boss and have guys standing to the side slapping baseball bats into their palms while he "suggests" that a private company put $20 BILLION (with a "b") into an escrow account that is controlled by someone HE sslects. He should also use those same tactics to force that same company to put up $100 million to pay for the wages lost by oil industry workers because of the dumbassed moratorium HE put in place!!!!

What the frick are you thinking?!?!?!?!?

Yes, BP should be picking up the tab for everything. But I too think the President acted like a thug with his shakedown of BP.

I understand that there many people hurting along the gulf coast due to this accident, but that does not change the law.

Do you really want the President to have the authority to go after businesses the way this one went after BP. Sure you may agree with it this time, but once you give someone the authority to do something, they will not be limited to doing it when you agree with them.

i have no problem at all with Obama getting money from BP who was paying anyway. But id really like to know what BP got out of the deal. You can beat they were giving something in return. I guess maybe Obama said he will not kick heir arse if they paid up.

this

ETA-and I find the thought of BHO's appointee deciding how the money will be distributed very disturbing. There is a much higher likelihood that the money will not reach the right places/people and/or be at least partially diverted to other pet projects needs. I really don't want to see money that should be going to marsh restoration diverted to Obamacare.

Bo got a limit to their liability, a max limit. I will bet $100, no odds that not all of the money gets spent. Read The Firm by Grisham.

That will not happen.

Finally a president who "says" he wants to do something about coastal restoration in Louisiana.

Everyone praises Bush but he basically told Louisiana wetlands NO! With various restoration projects tacked on iraq spending bills After Katrina it was clear as day that something needs to be done. A Katrina hits 50 years ago and none of this BS happens.

If the last year and a half should have shown you anything, it's that this president is all talk and his only "action" is usually 180 degrees different from what he does say.

Are you Barton's nephew?

You obviously have no grasp of the gulf coast crisis playing out where I live and other points of the gulf coast.
Folks that think like you were in charge of Valdez and Bhopal.
Amazing dispicable thought process you have.
