I'm down in NW FL and I'm friends with a few Marine Biologists around here and they told me that a company down here (formerly known as Solutia Inc.) is developing and mass producing a material that soaks up the oil and doesn't break apart in water and someone (BP or affiliates I assume) is buying every bit that this company can make. Hopefully this hasn't been brought up yet because it's news to me.

Right now, I think any thing that even remotely sounds like a solution should receive an open ear.

Here's hoping.

I hear that. BP is apparently buying every bit that "Solutia" can make so it sounds like they are either confident in it or they are trying everything.

Do you happen to know the name of the material? Hopefully this stuff can keep some of the oil away from the coastlines.

Personally, and I don't mean to get political, but I wish we could put more energy/capital into developing new things like this instead of iphones and blu-ray players.

In my opinion, that's real progress.

Hopefully this is good news and plays out! Here's to hopin.

No, I actually don't but I can find out with a quick phone call. If I find out soon I'll post back.

I agree! I will be out on the boats when they put the plan into play so I will update ASAP.
