The Rotor was across the midway from the Music Express...
That was the ride where it spun and put you against the wall, and the floor dropped... It was later replaced by the Rainbow..
I think you're thinking of the Trabant... I puked on that ride too many times as a kid..

For my older brother's 15 birthday, my parents allowed my eldest brother take him and two friends to Pontchartrain Beach. They let me tag along.
Me and my oldest brother were riding the Galaxy and sitting in the car behind two older women. The first descent on the Galaxy is quite steep and when we were half way down, a wig worn by one of the ladies in the front of the car flew off.
My brother caught it in mid air and held on to it for the rest of the ride. When the ride was over the woman that had lost her wig was in hysterics because she had all this tissue paper and bobby pins in her hair. She didn't know what to say when my brother handed her the wig.

my family owned FFP
we all used to have to work there in the summers and I ran the wild mouse for a while
let's just say "maintenance" wasn't a priority

The seats on that thing look like lawn chairs.

Two more I remember were the paratrooper and the magi carpet.

Scat was awesome. Magic carpet was good when younger. But nothing tops the bullet!

The Illinois State Fair used to have a strip show down at the end of the carnival midway. (this seems so unusual now)
When I was 14 a couple of buddies and myself worked up the nerve to buy tickets and they actually let us in.
We sat in the back row all through the show.....a few strippers interspersed with Vaudeville type comedians. Then we moved to the middle rows to catch the whole show again. Finally we sat in the front row for a third time through.
We all knew the performers and barkers routines after three showings and used to comically spout off their rhetoric for months afterward at school.
That wasn't a ride (in some ways it was) but it was carnival nostalgia.

whatever the name of that thing where you stand up against the wall and it spins so fast, it's nearly impossible to pry yourself off of the wall.

Scrambler was my favorite. I also enjoyed the gravitron, Himalaya, and wagon wheel.
And it was best at night with all the lights.
