My real GF commited suicide when my dad was 13. PTSD WW2.
My GM remarried the man I knew as my GF. He was a weird dude, but they stayed married until her death over 30 years later.
After she died I found out she met him by answering an ad for a wife in the newspaper.

I had an older cousin (old enough to have kids my age) always knew he was shady but, found out at his funeral that he had deep mob ties and had actually changed his name to stay out of trouble. Knew the guy for more than 40 yrs and never knew his real name.
