I was doing a favor for a family member and mowing their yard because their mower was broke. Before starting I asked if she had any YellowJacket nests I need to look out for and she said nope.
As I'm mowing, I'm hitting an area around a burned out stump, I made several passes and after about the third pass I was coming back around and it looked like the stump had grown by about 2 feet. There must have been thousands of those little bastards. I am amazed that I didn't get hit as many times as I passed right over.
I immediately stopped and got my family member and showed the huge nest and she goes, "Oh, I guess that why I got stung last time I walked over there."

Run over a nest of them while driving a tractor in the sweltering hot of summer. They will make you leave the tractor while it's still moving forward.

I got stung a few years back, just once on the end of my finger. For 4 hours I was in agony with my finger submerged in ice and water. I don't wish that on anyone!

Yeah, they got me a few years back while on a riding lawnmower next to a ditch bank. Went back after dark and poured a half gallon of gas down the hole, trailed it off a bit and lit it. A flame shot out of the exit hole in the side of the ditch like a civil war cannon.
Sent their hellish asses straight to the bug afterlife.

Had a handyman work on our house once and he brought his dog along. Tied his dog a tree in the back yard which, unbeknownst to anyone, harbored a yellowjacket nest. Poor pooch got swarmed and he had to run in and untie the leash getting stung a dozen times in the process. It was a great illustration of the unbreakable bond between a man and his dog.
