I'm filling out my part of my year end review, and I am being asked to list a couple "Career & Well-Being" objectives.

What the hell are those? Anyone else have to do this crap?

What do you want to do with your career? Like moving up to Senior Janitorial Engineer.

Well being would be like pledging to exercise 20 minutes a day or eating more asparagus

They are asking you what are your career goals and how are you going to stop being a disgusting, unhealthy fatbody.

Ah, OK.

That well-being thing was throwing me off.

Take it seriously because it will affect how the upcoming year will go for you, at least for my previous company at.

Feel like you should get a promotion. Tell them and they will spell out the criteria you must meet.

Depending on the boss, they’ll help get you where you want to go.

My current bosses have no experience and have little imagination. Review is going to be interesting this year. Fml, I’ll post about it later

Probably not the place to mention you had sex on your boss's desk.

Interesting...we do a similar performance evaluation, but they have never asked anything about my well-being. Companies are getting farther and farther into out personal lives and personal business.

I would try to use the question to my advantage by stating something like:

"I would like to improve my work-life balance by finding process improvements that will reduce my required hours worked while increasing productivity"

At best, that effort will give you more time off...at worst, it will point out how many hours you are working. Either situation is a win for you.

You’re probably pretty new to the working world if you’re not too sure what these mean. Points like this help shape your career goals and your health so take them seriously

Or it would show how inefficient you are

They are asking you to define your short term goals and the things that are important to you that bring you personal satisfaction. Just be honest and hope the answers will help guide you to a more enjoyable and prosperous career.

Part of a good manager is knowing your career path, then removing barriers to it, and your current position so you can progress quickly. It is a good thing.

If you don't already review your year and track progress toward goals and set new goals then you're missing out big time.

Take time to better yourself
