WWE Friday Night Smackdown Thread | The FOX Debut & Hell in a Cell Go Home Edition

Smackdown officially becomes WWE's top show tonight as it makes the move to Friday nights (for the first time since January 2015) and FOX... with the first of these episodes coming from the Staples Center in Los Angeles
Here's the new Smackdown set
Oh by the way... it's also the final show before a PPV this Sunday... you know... Hell in a Cell
Did you forget? WWE might have too since there's only 3 matches officially scheduled for it so far
Brock Lesnar becomes the absentee WWE Heavyweight Champion when he squashes Kofi's reign like a bug tonight
Kevin Owens & Shane McMahon both put their careers on the line in a ladder match
The Man & Queen Connection takes on the Boss & Hug Connection
Roman Reigns takes on the man that tried to crush him to death... Erick Rowan
The Rock returns to the show that bears one of his tag lines for a cheap ratings pop
Randy Orton may or may not call someone the N-word

Hell in Cell will be intersting considering they have to fill the card despite no storyline advancement outside of the 3 matches announced

Speaking of names from the past, apparently Edge has signed a new contract and just got medically cleared. He's saying he thinks he can do one more match. Austin was kind of hinting that he might be able to do one more too. If Austin comes back, I would expect it to be at one of the Saudi shows. I wonder if Edge would do one of those or if he's in good enough shape to do a real match at WM.

Nikki's neck is destroyed and considering she's a woman is probably in worse shape than Edge or Austin. Plus those two have had a long time to heal.

If we don't see at least one of Bad News Barrett, Michelle McCool/Layla(Laycool), Eric Bischoff, Farooq, or AOP(in the ring not in their interviews) tonight I might not watch much Smackdown after tonight

probably going to need to re-brand themselves in a more serious light or do something to get much more over than they are now
I'm stunned to find out Monday night's Flair/Hogan segment saw ~500,000 viewers immediately tune out when the segment ended

someone in WWE apparently texted Meltzer during the 2nd hour of NXT and said they needed to get out of the building... guess that means someone feels Full Sail will keep NXT down if this is truly a war with AEW

Those minute-by-minute numbers always seem kinda sketchy to me but I wouldn't doubt a lot of people just wanted to see Flair and/or Hogan and wasn't too much interested in the rest of the show.
