WWE Friday Night Smackdown: An Intercontinental Celebration Edition

So... like it's becoming the norm... we start with more bad pub for WWE as the company may have even more of a mess on its hands than normal thanks to a new version of the #MeToo movement focusing on wrestlers dubbed #SpeakingOut
It started with British independent wrestler (an American from the northeast) David Starr... who dubs himself as the 'Bernie Sanders of professional wrestling' as part of his much larger intro and at a recent appearance was unironically wearing an AOC t-shirt... who was accused of rape by an ex-gf of not just her but numerous other women. Starr replied to that tweet by essentially both admitting and denying it at the same time
Now that story wouldn't be here unless either WWE, NXT, or AEW got entrapped in this somehow... and WWE/NXT it is. Current formal WWE/NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin (the cruiserweight champion currently stuck overseas... and thus the reason WWE/NXT needed an interim champion) has also been accused of taking some liberties with the ladies... forcing a response from WWE essentially saying "we're looking into it"
That somehow overshadows the news that the positive COVID test that suspended the Tuesday tapings has caused another 1 of WWE's top guys to walk away from the company for the time being as Kevin Owens has apparently said he's out of action until the COVID stuff calms down... so we'll be without the KO Show for the foreseeable future
But enough bad stuff... let's get onto tonight's show from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla. shall we?
The Fireflies return from a bit of a hiatus as Bray Wyatt and the Firefly Fun House comes back tonight with all of our friends, Abby the Witch, Mercy the Buzzard, the unkillable Ramblin' Rabbit, & Huskus the Pigboy. Will "He" come play too?
Last week, AJ Styles became the new Intercontinental Champion... and tonight he'll have a red carpet, star-studded celebration with a giant red carpet presentation of his new championship title. Surely no one would interrupt this grand celebration, would they?
Miz TV returns tonight with the denim dandy... Otis' peach... Mandy Rose as the special guest to talk about her failed friendship with the butch Sonya Deville... who can't possibly lose during pride month, right? It's Sonya's month... she should win all the titles
The only match promoted for tonight isn't even really a match... as the King of Bros Matt Riddle will make his Smackdown in-ring debut against what I'm guessing will be a jobber opponent so a nice easy win for Riddle
Bayley Dos Straps (pre-Karen haircut) anyone?
and speaking of Bayley's Karen haircut... she apparently had the image of a cake shaved into the back of her head (under her hair) for her birthday Monday

All organizations have had allegations leveled. It’s going to have to be judged case by case by case. I’m betting some are guilty. Some are innocent. Some thought they had consent but she changed her mind 6 months later.

I only mentioned the 2 where there's been some kind of response to the allegations that I know of at this time
there could be more that I haven't seen

The upper part of that Bayley photo has to be shopped, right?
Woah, what is this black outline around the "Subject" and "Message" box? Is this new for anyone else?

Riddle isn't being promoted for tonight. He's got his own assault accusations to deal with.

> MATT RIDDLE'S SMACKDOWN DEBUT MAY BE DELAYED AFTER SEXUAL ABUSE ALLEGATIONS
- Indie pro wrestler Candy Cartwright revealed today that former NXT Tag Team titleholder Matt Riddle forced her into having sex in May of 2018 while the two were in a van with other wrestlers. "I’m posting this because I have been so sad for so long. I didn’t realize that what he did to me was not ok. I realize now, reading these other brave women’s stories, that I can’t be afraid anymore and I have to #speakout," Cartwright wrote. She said that she was riding in a van with Riddle and other wrestlers when the other three fell asleep and Matt asked her to "hop on his dick." When she refused, Cartwright said that Riddle grabbed her by the throat, choked her and said "what if I just made you?" Cartwright, the former Shine NOVA champ, said she ended up giving him oral sex to get out of having sexual intercourse with him and was praying someone wouldn’t wake up. "It was incredibly humiliating. It is never ok to put your hands on a woman, it’s also not ok to not listen when she says no,” she wrote. Lisa Riddle, his wife, contacted her directly and asked her to send her a screenshot of all the messages that the two have together, nothing that her husband was aware she was contacting her. "Please, you owe me that," the wife says. Meanwhile, Riddle has denied the allegations in direct messages sent to another Twitter user and said that Cartwright has been harassing him for years and had to change his number three times. "I almost got a restraining order against her but didn't wanna ruin her career," he wrote, adding that his lawyer and WWE are already in motion to press charges for defamation and cyber stalking and bullying. In a short statement responding to the allegations, WWE said, "We take any allegation of this nature very seriously and are looking into the matter." Riddle was supposed to start on Smackdown tonight but his appearance has been removed from the Smackdown preview on WWE.COM.
