Does your SO have polar opposite political leanings of you? I've played that game before, and it fricking sucks. Your life doesn't have to be ate up with politics for it to cause disagreements many times.

Well the vast majority of liberals are racist angry people so he has a solid point.

To me this is a big problem with a certain percentage of the population. You should be able to differ politically and still get along with a person. Most of us differ but it shouldn’t be something that’s constantly talked about.

This would be difficult for me. I'm not overly interested in politics but I think that I'd likely have a different value system than someone that was my complete opposite, particularly when raising children.

I am glad I don't let politics rule my life like a lot of you folks.
General I agree, but for a wife? That's absolutely important. My sister's a huge far left lib that is vegetarian because she is anti killing animals, saving the planet, brings her own boxes to restaurants for leftovers, and plenty of other things. Some of its not all that bad and definitely better for the planet.
But the idea that you shouldn't be somewhat politically aligned in an ideal marriage is also laughable.

I would say that it’s important to be aligned with respect to values.
In theory, that should be the same as being politically aligned, but politics in this country are so warped that everyone who is left of center is considered liberal and everyone who is right of center is considered alt-right.
In reality, a left leaning centrist and a right leaning centrist should be fine together even if they vote differently. But since were all stupidly getting crammed into these two boxes that are complete opposites of each other on every issue, people believe that any political differences are a show stopper.
