I don't think I would especially if I had a good chance of losing. Did they say they would pay court fees etc?

Winners and losers get paid regardless of outcome.

It's a pretty cut-and-dried case in my favor. From the little reading I've done, the show supposedly pays each party $200 plus the loser's judgment. No court fee since it's not a real court. (I haven't returned the producer's call.)

From what I understand it is actually safer than going to real court. The only question is if you are airing out your dirty laundry in public and how you feel about that. I think that I would lean against doing it.

That's why I would have second thoughts. It's a strictly business transaction between two relative strangers, but I'm not keen on the thought of being made a fool of for tv or encouraged to act ugly to someone for entertainment.

My grandfather had the chance to go on Judge Judy once and his case was pretty dry so he knew he'd win but still turned it down. Wanted no part of being made a fool of on TV.

Why is a producer calling you? Don't you have to apply to be on the show?

I think most of those shows call people with cases filed in a real court.

I got the same call years ago from a different court show. I told the defendant that it'd be a cold day in hell before I went on a court tv show. He needed a witness; I told him that I would literally wear a paper bag if I went.

It would have been the greatest episode of Christina's Court. I would have been a youtube sensation with a bag on my head.
