I once had someone tell me they think Earth is purgatory. They had gone through a really tough time. As in a close family member suddenly dying and then weeks later they were diagnosed with something that eventually led to their death several years later, but soon after being diagnosed we had a conversation and it was something they really thought about. They said that to have so much love for a person was such a blessing and to have that person suddenly taken away from you is almost evil and to have the ability to experience both that Earth has to be some sort of purgatory.

Its an interesting theory and they did have a great point because life is nothing but ups and downs, but when you truly experience any type of tragedy it does make you question everything. On any day something can happen that completely changes our lives and there isn't anything that can be done about it. That within itself is a scary thought.
