As the son of an eventually quadriplegic mother (MS), there's little the handicapped like more than being able to laugh about their situation. "Woe is me", and the people who cater to those feelings of despair, are not helpful.
I've never met Oweo but if he were really offended by most of the things said, he wouldn't post here. My mom would've cracked up at some of the jokes Oweo gets. Hell, just in this thread...."He can't stand up for himself"....that's funny shite, handicapped or not.

If you're not handicapped, and I'm not but I do have pretty good knowledge based on growing up with someone in that position, your ailment just becomes part of you. We adapt. You learn to get along in life the best you can, handicapped or not, and make the best of it.
When you make jokes at bald guys, do they get angry? When you joke someone about their moobs, are you offending them? What about gingers? It's all the same. We all have things that open us up to ridicule because, ultimately, those things *are us*. You either get pissed your bald, a ginger, have moobs, can't walk, or you just accept shite for what it is and don't mind joking around with your friends about it (and yes, this message board creates friendships even between people who have never met one another).
