After a 7 mile hike, nothing tastes better than an ice cold beer.

This is the first time on this forum.

Next time, maybe a "how do you get drunk and/or high" thread might be more fun. Get those hints and tricks going.

I actually do well in one on one situations or small groups, like on dates, and business meetings. I can't carry the conversation, but I interact pretty well. I kind of surprise myself in those situations, to be honest... But I pretty much hate large crowds and clam up when I'm around a lot of unfamiliar people. If I don't drink, I can be kind of paranoid, and can't carry on a good conversation to save my life unless I'm really, really comfortable with the person I'm talking to.

Once in this board and once on another board then.

I realize the topic isn't comfortable to discuss, but it needs to be discussed.

Good for you.

Since you're so realistic, it shouldn't surprise you that plenty of folks have vices/hobbies.

And that's coming from me--never smoked or did drugs a day in my life, and I rarely get drunk (mainly because it takes a TON of alcohol to get me drunk and I'm a cheapskate who'd rather spoil my wife with the extra cash I have).

Disagree.

You need to let it go. As old as you claim to be, you should know better.

Of course it is. When one drinks/gets high to the point of altering one's perception of reality, be it a few hours or several times a week, it's about wishing to live with a distorted view of life.

I'm old enough to see the foolishness/tragedy of using alcohol and/or drugs. I can think of no example where excessive use of alcohol and/or drugs has any benefit. I can think of many many many instances where tragedy occurred though.

So you need to reestablish the parameters of your query.

It's not about just getting drunk and/or high, like you intimated in your OP. And it's really not even about this distorted view of reality bullshite you keep spewing.

It's about doing it to the point where it becomes hazardous to oneself and your fellow man.

Given THAT perspective, most of us would agree with you.
