The raising of that flag on Suribachi means a Marine Corps for the next five hundred years.

I'm a reservist in Bossier. I wanna go active now but with the way we're cutting down its not likely that will happen. Those were the words from our admin SSgt.

Things change over night.
There is life after the Corps. Remeber that.

The Rick Atkinson series on WWII has a lot of insight about Ike and why he thought this way.

You'd be pissed at how it is right now. Haven't shot the rifle range in over a year and a half before last weekend because of funding.
Mortar section is in an extreme need of guys. As in, we only have five frickin guys in the section. Your boy, SSgt. Duncan is trying to get my paperwork pushed through to go to Mortar Leaders Course this summer instead of Bridgeport.
There's a lot of other bullshite going on but we went to 29 Palms last summer and absolutely killed it.
A LOT of guys are repeatedly going UA and I would imagine that's because of the bullshite we have to do that's not actual training.

I was better than Duncan.

Hahaha I'll be sure to tell him that. He still talks about you kicking FDC from the shitter. And the boiled chicken.
Posted on 5/18/16 at 9:56 pm to TigerFanInSouthland
Good to know my name is still spoken with reverence 10 years after I left the unit.
Posted on 5/18/16 at 9:58 pm to GeauxxxTigers23
He also calls us pussies cause apparently there were fights at the unit every drill weekend back then.
But he does say in general that we're a lot smarter than y'all were.

Maybe he was fighting. I was busy tearing through all the super high quality trim of bossier parish.

I've always read that they both wanted to do away with em but never understood why.
They believed it was an expensive redundancy.

That ain't happening for anybody now. Battalion came down and said no more drinking on drill weekends.
But yes, living in bossier my entire life I will concur that we have some of the best snatch in America.

Modern warfare isn't only what's been going on in the middle-east for the past few years. Marines are vastly more sea-capable than the Army.
Not taking anything away from the Army, I've worked with some Army units that were pretty hardcore. Land capabilities can overlap somewhat, but the big Army is more of an occupying force.
They have Direct-action units like Rangers, ODA, Sappers etc. but the entire USMC is direct action capable (save supply)

Do I have to post the divisional casualty rates for both Europe and the Pacific again? I know it's been a while and perhaps you've forgot.

Bean counters it's as simple as that
I do agree with this, they felt that the Army could accomplish the same training and do it cheaper.
They didn't really have a clue, of what being in that small club can do to motivate a man.
