Why are RL Polo shirts so popular after all these years?

My guess is that they fit nicely and last a long time.
I've never bought another pullover polo shirt that fits as well as a RL.
If you're not a fat arse, they fit good. Arm holes aren't huge, so if you have any muscle in your biceps they fit well. The midsection is tapered a little towards the waist to slim and show a little chest muscle if you have any.
Bonus is that they last about 10 years if you don't abuse them.
